Notice for the State / Federal General Election & Municipal Elections November 3, 2026

TO THE VOTERS OF TIPTON COUNTY, TENNESSEE:  You are hereby notified that a GENERAL ELECTION and various MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS will be held in all voting precincts in Tipton County, TN on:  TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 2026

A General Election for the following offices:
Governor (4 yr. Term)
U.S. SENATE, U.S. House of Representatives, 8th & 5th. Congressional Districts (2 yr. Term)
Tennessee House of Representatives 81st. District (2 yr. Term)

A Municipal Election, for each of the following municipalities:

Town of Atoka, TN:  (1) Mayor & (3) Aldermen, each for a four year term. No person shall be eligible for the office of   Mayor or Alderman unless such person has resided within the Town for at least one (1) year preceding the election.

Town of Burlison, TN:  (1) Councilmen for a four year term.  All applicants must reside within the Town for at least one (1) year preceding an election.

City of Covington, TN:  (1) Mayor & 3 Aldermen, (1) in Ward 5, (1) in Ward 6 and (1) in Ward 7, each for a four year term.  No person shall be eligible unless a resident of the State of Tennessee for more than one (1) year, a resident within the boundaries of Covington for not less than twelve (12) months  preceding the election and shall continue to reside within the limits of their district.

Town of Garland, TN:  (1) Mayor, (6) Alderman & (1) Recorder for a 4 year term.  No person shall be eligible for the office of Mayor, Alderman or Recorder unless they are a resident of the State of Tennessee for one year or more, a resident within the boundaries of Garland for not less than six months immediately preceding the election, and shall continue to reside within the town of Garland during their term of office.

Town of Gilt Edge, TN:  (3) Councilman for a 4-year term.  Applicants must have been a bona fide resident of the Town for six months preceding the election. 

Town of Mason, TN:  (1) Mayor & (3) Aldermen each for a 4 year term.  No person shall be eligible for the office of Alderman unless they are a qualified voter and have been a bona fide resident of the Town for six (6) months preceding the election.

City of Munford, TN:  (3) Aldermen for a 4 year term.  All applicants shall have been a resident of the state of Tennessee for at least one (1) year and a resident of the city for not less than six (6) months immediately preceding the election, and shall continue to reside within the city for the term of office.

Candidates for all municipal offices must file nominating petitions with the Tipton County Election Commission Office.  The first day to pick up a petition is June 22, 2026 and the qualifying deadline is August 20, 2026 by 12 Noon.  A candidate who qualifies must file any request to withdraw no later than 12:00 Noon Thursday, August 27, 2026.  TCA§ 2-5-204(b)(1)
